If you're looking for a lightweight tent, then chances are
going to need to carry it and you want to minimise the stress
and strain of lugging unnecessary weight.
The good news is that modern materials have made
the lightweight tents lighter than ever.
One Man Lightweight Tent
This Vango Force 10 Helium Superlite weighs only
980g!! That's amazing for such a high quality
tent.
But it's not just one man tents that are lightweight
nowadays. Today's lightweight 2 man tent is amazingly
lightweight, not only are light, they're warm and
waterproof too.
If you're looking for a different lightweight 2
man tent, or you simply want to read a few reviews before you
decide which tent to buy then see below...
The lightest one man tents actually weigh less than a bivy
bag, so unless you really want to have your head exposed to the
elements then a modern ultra lightweight one man tent like
the Helium Superlite above, could be a better answer for
you.
There's some good basic advice in the video below - even if
it needs a little work.
But, the advice on one person to a 3 man tent, has got
to be down to the size of Americans! A 3 person tent will sleep
3 of us Brits just fine.
Cheap Lightweight Tent?
Personally, I don't think the words lightweight
and cheap have any place together for any serious hiking,
backpacking and expeditions. Especially if you could be
spending time out in wild weather - and yes there's plenty of
that in the UK.
We both know that you get what you pay for and
in the outdoor world lightweight kit costs more. So invest in
the best you can afford because it will do the job for you.
